We are at the Fisherman’s Village at Bophut Beach on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand. It is the weekly Friday Night Market where the main street of Fisherman´s Village turns into a carnival of stands offering clothing, foods, drinks and hobby crafts created by locals from all over the island. The Fisherman´s Village Night Market is held every Friday starting at 17:00 and ending at 22:00. Whether you are visiting Koh Samui for the first time or whether you have been here many times the night market is a “Must See” tourist attraction on Koh Samui. Tourists come from Chaweng Beach, Lamai Beach and Bophut Beach to see this very famous walking street. Fisherman´s Village lies in the tourist town of Bophut (or Bophut Beach) which lies at the northern part of the island just north of Koh Samui International Airport.
This video footage of the night market is aimed to provide the viewer with a POV (point of view) view of the walk through Fisherman’s Village. When filming this footage we have also tried to focus the camera on some of the products being sold at the stands (mostly foods, so that travelers can get an idea of the type of products sold at the market). Watch out for the Thai Kickboxing display half way into the footage.
Wiki writes about Fisherman’s Village at Bophut Beach, Koh Samui, “Bophut is one of the few places on Samui that retains some of the island’s original Thai-Chinese atmosphere. It has recently experiencing a boom with new hotels and guesthouses sprouting up at a frantic pace. The traditional core of Bophut, known as the Fisherman’s Village, is a charming village on the east side of the beach while the new developments are to the west. In contrast to Chaweng there has been a conscious effort to dissuade the more commercial elements of Thai night life from setting up shop and instead aiming for couples and young families. ..”
This footage is filmed on the Thailand island of Koh Samui at Bophut Beach on a June Friday night at the Fisherman’s Village Night Market.
